Tom Emmer Life and Biography

Born in 1961, Tom grew up in Minnesota and attended St. Thomas Academy. He then graduated with a BA in Political Science from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law.

After graduation, Tom Emmer practiced law for several years before opening his own law firm. Tom Emmer spent the next 20 years balancing family, work, coaching hockey and serving on city councils in Independence and Delano.

Before coming to Congress, Tom Emmer served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008. In his personal life, Tom Emmer and his wife Jacquie have been married for over 30 years and have seven children. Today, they live in Delano.
